Valentines Day is celebrated on the 14 of February every year. This holiday contains vestiges of Christian and ancient Roman tradition. On this day many gifts, flowers, and candy are given to loved ones. The legend of St. Valentine is that there was this man who was sent to jail, he then fell in love with this woman who visited him. Before he was put to death he wrote the woman a letter, which he then signed 'from your valentine'. The month of February is the month of love, romance, and all these love related things. There are many interesting about Valentine's Day that you probably did not know. For example, there are about 50 million roses given on Valentine's day, 27% of women buy roses and 73% are men, Cupid is the son of Venus(the god of beauty and love), at least 36 million heart shape boxes are sold, and more. Also, in the middle ages it was said that if you were single on the date of February 14, Valentine's Day, you will end up marring the first person you met on this day. On this day, many couples go out to eat dinner, go in dates, and many other romantic things. For those who do not have a partner, they give presents to loved ones such as their family or friends. There are many things to do on this day and many people to spend it with. There are many laughs, smiles,and memories made on this romantic Day. At school or anywhere, men or women asks a person if they want to be their valentine. With younger kids, at school they handout cards to classmates and candy.
